At SLC we strive to provide resources to every student to prepare them for their next steps. Today, juniors and seniors attended a college tour at UACCM to explore their future options. Thank you UACCM for having us and for creating opportunities for our students. #EducateEquipEmpower

SLC students took a field trip to Lake Dardanelle State Park to complete a nature hike where they learned about the landscape, how they keep the park maintained to benefit the wildlife, and what different animals live around the park. They then explored the inside exhibits, followed by a trip to the classroom to learn about different owls. They ended their trip by dissecting owl pellets! What a fun day for our students to see science in action outside the classroom walls! Thank you LDSP for having us! #AchievingExcellenceTogether #SLC

SLC students were able to bring history class to life by exploring Judge Parker’s courtroom and a replica of the Fort Smith gallows. They then participated in a guided tour of the world-renowned urban and contemporary public art that has flooded the historic downtown streets of Fort Smith, all while exploring the career opportunity of drone piloting at the same time! SLC students had the opportunity to job shadow in a career field that is of interest to them. Some of our students participated in job shadowing teachers in different elementary schools throughout the Russellville School District. This was such a great experience for these students to spend the day in the life of a teacher, all while giving them an idea for a potential career. SLC students that maintain good attendance and grades are provided with an extra incentive every three weeks! This time was an afternoon at Old Post Park and a friendly basketball game with the Principal, Mr. Edgin. 🏀 Although Mr. Edgin’s team took the W, all students had a fun afternoon and enjoyed some yummy popcicles.
